Yuko Itatsu is a Professor at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo. She received her Ph.D. in History at the University of Southern California. Her research interests are centered on minority studies, leisure studies, American popular culture and transnationalism, with a particular focus on U.S-Japan cultural exchange. Her current interests include intersections between digital technology and the everyday life, as well as how leisure activities offers a prism into the social, political and economic dynamics at play.
She is also currently involved in the B’AI Global Forum, which is a research group focused on conducting critical examinations of how digital technology including artificial intelligence has the potential to exacerbated disparity and stigma for the socially marginalized, and seeks ways to use these technologies to achieve inclusivity of these populations.

東京大学大学院情報学環・学際情報学府教授。南カリフォルニア大学にて博士号（歴史学）を取得しました。主に、マイノリティ研究、レジャー研究、アメリカの大衆文化、トランスナショナリズムを研究対象としており、特に日米の文化交流に焦点を当てています。現在は、デジタルテクノロジーと日常生活の交点や、余暇活動が社会的、政治的、経済的ダイナミクスにどのように影響を与えるかなどについて関心を持っています。
現在、B’AIグローバルフォーラムという研究グループにも参加しており、人工知能を含むデジタル技術が社会的に疎外された人々の格差やスティグマを悪化させる可能性があるかどうかの批判的調査を実施したり、そのような人々の包括性を達成するためのデジタル技術の使用方法を模索しています。
