YUKO ITATSU LABORATORY, THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO

On January 22nd, former lab member Alyssa Castillo Yap presented under the seminar theme of “AI, Body and Aesthetics”. She discussed concepts of “desirable images” and the “healthy human” from the perspective of AI, linking her Master’s thesis work on prosthetics, innovation and affect-oriented design. She discussed the ways new technologies manifest culturally and sociopolitically in embodied life and influence normative affective relations in the age of AI, especially emphasising technologies’ impact on children in the future.

This was part of the seminar series  “Cross-Cultural Approaches to Desirable AI” fostering intercultural and interdisciplinary discussions on AI ethics, focusing on AI and social justice from intersectional feminist and anti-racist perspectives. It is a collaborative initiative involving the Universities of Cambridge, Bonn, Tokyo, and the University of Europe for Applied Sciences.

2025年1月22日、元研究室メンバーのアリッサ・カスティーヨ・ヤップが「AI、身体、美学」をテーマにセミナーで発表しました。彼女は、AIの視点から「望ましいイメージ」と「健康な人間」の概念について議論し、義肢、イノベーション、感情指向デザインに関する修士論文の研究と結びつけました。彼女は、新しい技術が文化的および社会政治的にどのように具現化し、AIの時代における規範的な感情関係にどのように影響を与えるか、特に将来の子供たちへの影響を強調しました。

このセミナーシリーズ「Cross-Cultural Approaches to Desirable AI」は、AI倫理に関する異文化および学際的な議論を促進し、交差するフェミニストおよび反人種差別の視点からAIと社会正義に焦点を当てています。ケンブリッジ大学、ボン大学、東京大学、ヨーロッパ応用科学大学が共同で取り組んでいます。講演シリーズの詳細は<こちら>でご覧いただけます。
